A Chinese blue and white brushpot. Kangxi

A Chinese porcelain blue and white brush pot (bitong) of round and waisted form. This bitong is decorated in vivid and rich cobalt blue tones with a mountainous river landscape with rocks, a pavilion, a travelling attendant and a lone fisherman steering his boat to shore.

Such mountainous river landscapes were a popular theme amongst the literati during the Kangxi period and can be found on blue and white brush pots in many famous collections.
