The figure moulded and modeled man leaning and slightly backward, with one leg stretching forward revealing the tip of her toe and the other folded. One of his hands supports his body while the other holds a vase with a wide mouth. He is wearing a long flowering robe, tendrils, and foliage. Below the robe is a further kimono tied at the waist by a wide black sash (obi).

Similar Japanese porcelain figures of man are also know standing up. The original inspiration for these figures remains unknown, thought scholar think they probably represent a Japanese kabuki actor. Depiction of men in Japanese Arita porcelain is rarer than ladies.
