Par orge Welsh Oriental Porcelain and Works of Art
Parution: 2003
Exhibition catalogue by Teresa Canepa; This exhibition catalogue features a distinct group of 44 pieces that are decorated with Christian iconography illustrating how the expansion of the Christian mission had profound influence on the design and decoration of Chinese export porcelain. From the late 16th century onwards the Portuguese Jesuits and other religious congregations placed orders with porcelain factories in China for various objects – the majority bearing their specific emblems – for liturgical and daily use in their monasteries.
